At Forward Together, we've doing youth-organizing work with Asian young women in Oakland since Spring 2005 and with Asian young men since 2011. Our youth organizing programs:
- Gather 60-80 young Asian folks each year, ages 14-20, from low-income, immigrant, and refugee families, and train them to be leaders in their communities who make change around the issues that are important to them.
- Encourage young Asian folks in Oakland to develop their self-awareness and claim their power to stand up for long-term well-being of themselves, their families, and their communities.
- Operate year-round, including a summer session, and welcome new participants at different times throughout the year.
- Are leading a fabulous and boundary-pushing campaign to ensure that all Oakland students get a comprehensive sex education that has a justice framework and addresses their specific experiences.
So come be a part of our work by supporting our car wash and bbq!!!
